Reflexology
What is Reflexology
& how does it work?
The art of Reflexology dates back to ancient Egypt and works on the principle that each organ or part of the body is represented by reflex points on the feet and hands.
Our health depends on all the thousands of parts of our body and mind working in harmony together. Too much strain on a particular area can knock our whole system out of balance. Reflexology is a non-invasive, natural therapy that works by applying gentle pressure and massage to these reflex points, helping to help clear congestion, relieve tension and allow the body to return to a state of ‘homeostatis’ a term which refers to a balanced state in the body and mind.
Reflexology may be able to help with many ailments but you do not have to be unwell to benefit from this lovely treatment. Reflexology is very relaxing and calming and may also be used as a preventative to ill health by helping to improve the overall functioning of the body’s systems.
Please note – Reflexology is not a medical treatment. It does not diagnose or claim to cure, it facilitates the body’s own natural healing processes. It can be used alongside, but should not be used in place of conventional medicine.

Hot Stone Reflexology
Basalt Stones are used to enhance the traditional reflexology treatment. Deeply relaxing for body & mind. Let the warmth of the stones soothe your tired feet and calm your senses.

Please note – if you have Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteo-arthritis or a skin condition where inflammation is present, I will need to avoid those areas with the hot stones. In addition if you have vein or nerve damage in the legs, or are elderly with very thin skin, I will need to avoid using the stones on your lower legs but I can still use them on your feet. Treatments will be adapted accordingly. Hot Stone Reflexology is not recommended for first trimester of pregnancy (although it can be used safely in the second and third trimesters), during IVF treatments or for anyone who has heart disease/high blood pressure that is not controlled by medication.

Maternity Reflexology
Infertility – Reflexology can be used alongside some medical treatments or if medical examinations have been inconclusive, then it can be used on it’s own or in conjunction with other complementary therapies. Reflexology can assist women or couples through their journey and working with both partners can be very beneficial.
Pregnancy Care – Reflexology may help with many pregnancy-related physical discomforts as well as soothing anxieties and stress prior to giving birth. Reflexology is one of the most popular complementary therapies used by women before, during and after pregnancy as it is believed to help to facilitate a state of harmony and well-being. The popularity of reflexology has grown due to the effective results people have experienced. I certainly get a lot of referrals from women I’ve treated during their pregnancy!
Before booking, please check with your Consultant, GP or Midwife if you have a history of miscarriages or previously experienced premature labour, placenta previa or bleeding.
Post-natal Care – During pregnancy your body goes through many months of physical and emotional changes and after giving birth many women feel that they need a little help finding themselves again. It is believed that reflexology can help to return your body to a pre-pregnant state supporting your physical and emotional well-being.
